Oltrepo Pavese is located 50 miles south of Milan. The name of the region signifies its location< 'on the other side of the River Po from the historical city of Pavia'. Metodo Classico Oltrepo Pavese (sometimes called Champagne Oltrepo) was awarded DOCG classification in 2007. The white version of this sparkling wine is produced with a minimum 85% Pinot Nero and the remaining 15% from Pinot Bianco, Pinot Grigio or Chardonnay. The rosato version must be 70% Pinot Nero with the remaining 30% from other varietals.
